Trade documents should help a buyer understand exactly what product is being discussed, what technical basis applies and which information is relevant to handling, safety or procurement. The Origin document centre is structured around the product record so that documents are generated or accessed in the context of a defined commodity.
Product Specification
The product specification defines the commercial quality parameters used for a particular requirement. Depending on the commodity, this may include composition, grade, moisture, purity, dimensions, tolerance levels, packing or other agreed characteristics.
TDS and PIS
A Technical Data Sheet (TDS) presents technical characteristics relevant to the product. A Product Information Sheet (PIS) provides a practical product overview, including identity, common uses, standard specifications, origin or packing information where applicable. These documents support product evaluation but do not replace the final contract specification agreed for a transaction.
SDS and standards references
Where safety documentation is applicable, an SDS provides information on hazards, handling, storage, transport and emergency considerations. Standards sheets can also identify the applicable reference framework used to interpret a specification. The required document set varies by product and intended use.
